Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave – Introductory Video

Utilizing historic photographs, film footage, and contemporary interviews, this video provides an overview of William “Buffalo Bill” Cody’s rise to fame and explains why he is buried on Lookout Mountain. Learn more about the multi-cultural cast of the Wild West show, Lakota performers, Annie Oakley and other female cast members, and factors that converged to reduce the population of American bison and Cody’s role in their conservation.  The film dispels commonly believed myths about Cody to reveal that the story is much more complex than the hero-villain binary.

Recording of live presentation by author and playwright Gregory Hinton given on February 27, 2023, at the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, Colorado, for the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave.
