Buffalo Bill Birthday Celebration
Noon - 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2008.
Celebrate the birthday of one of America’s greatest legends,
William “Buffalo Bill” Cody. In the grand tradition of
parties, the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave will host the annual Buffalo
Bill Birthday Celebration on Sunday, February 24 from noon to 3 p.m.
Sing Happy Birthday, eat cake, play games and maybe even learn a thing
or two on this very festive FREE day.
Join the Museum staff at Noon for a ceremonial cutting of the cake
by a photogenic collection of Buffalo Bill look-a-likes. Then wander
through the Museum exhibits, visiting with costumed volunteers as
they discuss the Native Americans, buffalo and cowboys that were such
a vital part of Buffalo Bill’s life. At 1:30 p.m. the action
moves back outside for the annual Buffalo-Chip Tossing Contest. Prizes
will be awarded in both an adult and child’s category.

Mountain Melodies Music Festival
Noon to 5 pm on Sunday, August 10, 2008.
What’s better than a cool picnic in the mountains on a hot
summer day? How about surrounding that same picnic with the lofting
sounds of guitars, fiddles and mandolins at the Buffalo Bill Museum’s
fourth annual Mountain Melodies Music Festival. Enjoy mountain breezes,
mountain scenery and mountain music on Lookout Mountain. And it’s
FREE! Mountain Melodies Music Festival will feature
five hours of bluegrass music by local artists. Historic craft demonstrations
will be scattered throughout the Museum and grounds, and costumed
reenactors will add a touch of the old west. Turn the event into
a picnic with genuine buffalo burgers and other foods from the Pahaska
Tepee Gift Shop and Snack Bar.
This picnic environment will offer some seating, however visitors
are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs to insure your space
in the shade. The concert and parking are free. Admission to the
Museum is $3 for adults; $2 for seniors; and $1 for children ages
6 - 15. Ages five and under are always free.

These guitar and mandolin players are most noted for their great vocal harmony.
1:15 – 2:00 - The Uptown Relics
Enjoy familiar tunes and olde-time American string music played on fiddle, banjo, guitar, autoharp and hammered dulcimer.
2:15 – 3:30 - Gobs O' Phun
Colorado's favorite good time Irish Trio. Get ready to laugh and sing along.
3:45 – 5:00 -Grubstake
For thirty years Grubstake has been a regional favorite with a national following. In just one short hour you will be reminded what great classic folk music is all about. |

Buffalo Bill Presents...A Living
Canvas of the West!
12 pm and 4 pm on Sunday, October 12, 2008.
The Old West of Frederic Remington, Charles Russell and George Catlin
will come to life as mountain men, musicians, Indians, craftspeople,
and soldiers demonstrate their lives and skills at the Buffalo Bill
Museum. “A Living Canvas of the West” will feature the
types of people that western artists painted. Fur trappers will show
the skills needed to survive in the early Western frontier. An artillery
crew will demonstrate cannon firing and Annie Oakley will provide
trick shooting. Indians will do tribal dances and talk about their
culture. Buffalo soldiers will talk about their role in the West and
a Civil War era band will provide music. Presiding over it all will
be Buffalo Bill, a man who became a legend in his own time. |
